To place markers to work shoulder puffs and lace panel with RS facing, starting at join, count and place markers at st 34(38:42:46) for centre left shoulder, 56(62:67:75) for start of lace panel, 82(88:102:110) for end of lace panel and 103(113:126:138) for centre right shoulder

Rnd 12(12:14:14): With RS facing and in MC. Working into the 2 back loops of hdc only from rnd prev to contrast trim (the front loops have been used for the contrast trim), 2ch, htr around to 2sts before left shoulder marker, 3htr in next htr 5 times, htr in each htr to 2nd marker, 1htr in marked st, *miss 2, 2tr in next htr, 2ch, 2tr in next htr, miss 2, 3htr; rep from * to 8 sts before 3rd marker miss 2, 2tr in next htr, 2ch, 2tr in next htr, miss 2, 1htr. Divide for sleeves & body

As your lace panel is now established, remove all the markers. With RS facing count around and place markers at 21(22:27:28), and 64(67:76:80) in each direction starting at join at centre back. Attach a length of MC yarn to 1st marked stitch, 6(8:7:9)ch and join thread to 2nd marked stitch; fasten off. Attach a length of MC yarn to 3rd marked stitch, 6(8:7:9)ch and join thread to 4th marked stitch; fasten off.

Next rnd: With WS facing, in MC, 2ch, work htr in each st to marker, htr across the chains, work lace panel in pattern. This completes the first round on the body (80(94:100:112) htr and 3(3:4:4) repeats of lace pattern) Remove markers.

Next rnd: With RS facing, place a marker 9sts before and 9 sts after the lace panel. On this round the lace should be worked between these markers giving an extra repeat at each side. Decrease 1htr at the middle of each underarm by working 2htr together. (Mark these stitches and move the marker as you go, because you will need to decrease and increase at this point through much of the rest of the garment)

Continue working in established pattern, decreasing at underarm on each side on every RS round, for 26 more rounds (34(48:54:66)htr and 5(5:6:6) repeats of lace pattern)

Next rnd (WS): 2 ch, htr in each htr until you reach the lace pattern, work as follows: rtrb, *(dc in tr) twice, 2dc in ch-2 sp, (dc in tr) twice, rtrb, htr, rtrb * to end of lace panel, htr in htr to end of round, sl st to join, turn.

Next rnd (RS): 2ch, htr in htr (dec 1 st at underarm) until you reach Ihe lace marker, htr in raised tr, *6dc, 3htr + to end of lace panel. Htr in htr (dec 1 st at underarm, dec 1(0:0:0) st in last st) to end of round, sl st to join, turn. (75(90:105:117) sts)

Ribbing

Rnd 1 (WS): 2 ch * 1 htr, 1 rtrb, 1 htr; rep from f to end of round, sl st to join, turn.

Rnd 2 (RS): 2 ch (htr, rtrf, htr) rep around, increase by working 3htr into htr before and 2htr in htr after each underarm marker, sl st to join, turn.

Repeat these two rounds 4 more times. (115(130:145:157) sts)
