YOU WILL NEED

Juniper Moon Farm Findley DK 50% wool, 50% silk, (approx 119m per 50g)

9[9:10:10:11:11] x 50g balls in 01 Fresco

1 pair 4mm knitting needles

1 x 4mm circular needle

Stitch marker

Stitch holders

Row counter

Note: Yarn amounts given are based on average requirements and are approximate.

TENSION

31 sts and 31 rows to 10cm over beaded rib using 4mm needles.

22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over st st using 4mm needles.

Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.

BACK

Using 4mm needles, cast on 134[144:149:159:164:174] sts.

Row 1 (RS): K1, (p2, k1, p1, k1) to last 3 sts, p2, k1.

Row 2 (WS): K3, (p3, k2) to last st, k1.

These 2 rows form Beaded Rib patt.

Rep these 2 rows until rib meas 8cm (3in) ending on a WS row.

Next row (RS): K7[6:10:9:13:12], (k1, k2tog) to last 7[6:5:9:13:12] sts, k7[6:10:9:13:12]. 94[100:106:112:118:124] sts rem.

Next row (WS): Purl.**

Work in st st until Back meas 28cm (11in) from beg, ending on a WS row.

Place these sts on a holder.

FRONT

Work as given for Back to **.

Work in st st until Front meas 18cm (7in) from beg ending on a WS row.

Note: Back will be longer than Front.

BODY

With RS facing, place Front 94[100:106:112:118:124] sts onto 4mm circular needle, place Back 94[100:106:112:118:124] sts onto 4mm circular needle.

PM and join for round, being careful not to twist sts. 188[200:212:224:236:248] sts.

Knit every rnd until Back meas 68cm (27in) from beg.

Divide for front and back

Next rnd: K94[100:106:112:118:124] sts from Front and place on a holder, cont in st st on Back 94[100:106:112:118:124] sts only, working backwards and forwards as if on straight needles.

Back section

Shape armhole

Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. 88[94:100:106:112:118] sts.

Dec 1 st at each end of every row to 86[90:98:100:104:104] sts.

Dec 1 st at each end of every alt row to 80[80:88:88:92:92] sts.

Cont straight until armhole meas approx 20[20:21:21:22:22]cm (8[8:8.25:8.25:8.5:8.5]in), ending on a WS row.

Shape right shoulder

Next row (RS): Cast off 5[5:8:8:8:8] sts (1 st left on LH needle), k14[14:15:15:15:15] sts.

Place rem 60[60:64:64:68:68] sts on a holder.

Cont to cast off 5[5:8:8:8:8] sts on every alt row until all sts have been cast off.

With RS facing, leave centre 40[40:40:40:44:44] sts on holder and place next 20[20:24:24:24:24] sts onto LH needle.

Shape left shoulder

Work as right shoulder, reversing all shaping. 

Front section

Work as given for Back from armhole shaping until Front armhole meas approx 12[12:13:13:14:14]cm (5[5:5:5:5.5:5.5]in), ending on WS row.

Shape neck

Next row (RS): K48[48:52:52:56:56] sts, place these sts just worked on a holder. 32[32:36:36:36:36] sts rem.

Right neck shaping

Dec 1 st at neck edge on every row to 28[28:32:32:32:32] sts.

Dec 1 st at neck edge on every alt row to 20[20:24:24:24:24] sts.

Work a further 4 rows without shaping.

Shoulder shaping

Cast off shoulders as for Back.

Left neck shaping

With WS facing, leave centre 16[16:16:16:20:20] sts on stitch holder and place end 32[32:36:36:36:36] sts onto 4mm needle and rejoin yarn to neck edge.

Work as for Right neck, reversing shaping.

NECKBAND

Join shoulder seams.

Using 4mm circular needle, pick up and k5 sts down right Back, k40[40:40:40:44:44] sts from Back stitch holder, pick up and k5 sts up left Back, pick up and k25[25:25:25:26:26] sts down left Front, k16[16:16:16:20:20] sts from Front stitch holder, pick up and k24[24:24:24:25:25] sts up right Front. PM and join for round. 115[115:115:115:125:125] sts.

Rnd 1: (P2, k1, p1, k1) to end.

Rnd 2: (P2, k3) to end.

Rep these 2 rnds until a total of 9 rnds have been worked.

Cast off in patt as for Rnd 2.

ARMHOLES

With RS facing and using 4mm circular needle, pick up 105[105:110:110:115:115] sts evenly around Armhole.

Work as for Neckband.

SIDE VENTS

Using 4mm circular needle, pick up 115 sts evenly along right Back and Front side vents (below where the knitting is joined into the round for the body).

Work as if knitting on straight needles.

Knit 4 rows.

Cast off knitwise.

TO FINISH OFF

Weave in all loose ends.
