5 balls 50g 8ply Rare Yarns
4.00mm circular needle 80cm
Wool sewing needle
As per 8ply Rare Yarns
Note - This garment is knitted in rounds not rows.
With 4.00mm Circular needle cast on 196 sts for neck edge. Place a stitch holder on the needle to keep track of rounds for counting.
Beg with a K row, knit 6 rounds.
Next Round: Purl 2 rounds
Next Knit 2 rounds.
These four rows form the pattern and are repeated throughout the garment. Pattern for 8 more rounds finishing on a knit round.
Shaping for hood
*P5, P2 tog: repeat from * to end of round. 168 sts
Next Round: Pattern for 11 rounds
Next Round: decrease *P4, P2 tog: repeat from * to end of round. 140 sts
Next Rounds: Pattern for another 169 rounds ending on a purl round.
Next Rounds: Knit 6 rounds to create border.
Cast off for top edge.
Do not press. Fold back knit borders in half to wrong side and sl st into place. Sew in ends.
MAKING ON STANDARD NEEDLES
Note: For those who want to use a pair of needles, not circulars
The 6 border rows at beginning and end are stocking stitch (K a row, P a Row)
And the 4 pattern rows are as follows
Row 1: Purl
Row 2: Knit
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: Purl
Sew the sides together - preferably with mattress stitch.
