TENSION

15 sts and 19 rows to 10cm over st st using 6mm needles.

Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.

PATTERN NOTE

The jumper is worked in the round on circular needles, up to the neck. Rounds start at the centre of the Back.

BODY

Using 5mm circular needles cast on 176(188:204:224:244:268] sts and join in the round, taking care not to twist sts.

Rnd 1: *K2, p2, rep from * around.

This row forms 2/2 rib, rep until work meas 6cm (2 1/4in).

Change to 6mm circular needles (80cm length) and cont in st st (knit every rnd), decreasing 32(32:36:40:44:48] sts evenly across the first rnd. 144(156:168:184:200:220] sts.

When work measures 42[43:44:45:46:47]cm (16 1/2:17:17 1/4:17 3/4:18:18 1/2]in), cast off for armholes as folls:

Next rnd: K31 [34:37:41:45:50] (= halfback piece), cast off 10 sts for first armhole, k62[68:74:82:90:100] (= front piece), cast off 10 sts for second armhole, k31 [34:37:41:45:50] (= half back piece).

Leave these sts on a spare needle.

SLEEVES (make 2)

Worked in the round on double-pointed needles and circular needles.

Using 5mm dpns cast on 40[40:44:44:44:48] sts and join in the rnd, taking care not to twist sts.

Work in 2/2 rib as for Body for 4cm (1 1/2 in). Change to shorter 6mm circular needles and cont in st st (knit every rnd), decreasing 5[3:5:3:3:7] sts evenly across the first rnd. 35(37:39:41:41:41] sts.

When Sleeve meas 8cm (3in), cont as folls:

Next rnd (inc): Yfwd, k1 (mark this st for mid under Sleeve), yfwd, k to end of round. 37(39:41:43:43:43] sts.

Note: Work each yfwd tbl on the following round and work all increased sts in st st.

Rep the inc round on every 6th[6th:6th:6th:5th:5th] round 8(7:3:3:14:7] more times. 53(53:47:49:71:57] sts.

Then on every 5th[5th:5th:5th:4th:4th] round 6(7:12:12:2:11] times. 65(67:71:73:75:79] sts. When Sleeve measures 54[53:53:53:53:53]cm (21 1/4 [20 3/4:20 3/4:20 3/4:20 3/4:20 3/4]in), cast off 10 sts under mid Sleeve (5 sts on each side of marker). 55(57:61:63:65:69] sts.

Leave sts on a spare needle.

YOKE

With RS of work facing and using a 6mm circular needle, slip the Body and Sleeves onto the same needle, placing the Sleeves in the gaps cast off for armholes. 234(250:270:290:310:338] sts.

Raglan and neck shaping

Note: Read ahead to start of neck shaping before you begin.

Cont to work in the round in st st and work raglan pattern from Chart in between every dec as folls:

Next round (1 st raglan dec): k26[29:32:36:40:45], k2tog, pm, k1, p1, k3, p1, k1, pm, skpo, k43[45:49:51:53:57], k2tog, pm, k1, p1, k3, p1, k1, pm, skpo, k52[58:64:72:80:90], k2tog, pm, k1, p1, k3, p1, k1, pm, skpo, k43(45:49:51:53:57], k2tog, pm, k1, p1, k3, p1, k1, pm, skpo, k26[29:32:36:40:45],

Cont to decrease 1 st either side of the 7 st Chart patt (indicated by the markers) on every alt round 15(16:16:17:18:18] more times. Then, dec 2 sts either side of the 7 st Chart pattern as foils:

2 st raglan dec: *Work until 3 sts remain before marker, sl 1, k2tog, psso, sm, k1, p1, k3, p1, k1, sm, sl1, k2tog, psso, rep from * to end of row.

Rep the 2 st raglan dec on every alt row 1 (1:2:2:2:3] more times.

At the same time work the neck shaping as folls:

When Front measures 44[45:46:47:48:49]cm (17 1/4[17 3/4:18:18 1/2:18 3/4:19 1/4]in), keeping raglan shaping correct, cast off the middle 14(16:16:16:18:20] sts on the front section for neck. Cont to work raglan dec and pattern sts as est, working backwards and forwards in rows from each neck edge and working the first st and last st on every row in g st.

Next RS row (neck dec): K1, skpo, working raglan decreases as est cont to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1.

Cont to rep neck dec and raglan dec on every RS row.

Note: Neck dec will overlap the raglan dec on the Front, when there are no longer enough sts to make the Front raglan decreases, cont to work the neck decreases over the Chart pattern.

When there are 44(48:50:56:62:68] sts rem on needle and work measures approx 66[68:70:72:74:76]cm (26[26 3/4:27 1/2:28 1/4:29:30]in), ending on a WS row cont as folls:

With RS of work facing and using 5mm circular needle, pick up and knit 43(45:46:48:50:52] sts up right side of neck to shoulder, 26(27:27:27:29:29] sts along the back of neck, 43(45:46:48:50:52] sts down left side of neck. 112(117:119:123:129:133] sts.

Next row (RS): K1, *k2, p2*, rep from * to * until 3 sts rem, k3.

Next row: K1, *p2, k2*, rep from * to * until 3 sts rem, p2, k1.

Rep these 2 rows until collar measures approx 6cm (2 1/4 in), ending on a WS row.

Next row (RS): K1 (k2, p2) 7(8:8:9:10:10] times, *k2, p1, m1p, p1*, rep from * to * 13 more times, (k2, p2) 7(8:8:8:9:10] times, k3. 130(138:138:142:150:154] sts.

Continue to work sts as presented (knit over knit and purl over purl) until collar measures 10(11:11:11:12:13]cm (4[4 1/4:4 1/4:4 1/4:4 1/2:5]in).
