King Cole Splash DK light (DK) weight acrylic yarn (3 1/2 oz/320 yds/100g per ball):

1 [1, 2] ball(s) #819 charcoal or #872 waterways

SizeJ/10/6mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Tapestry needle

Stitch marker


5 sc = 1 1/2 inches; 4 sc rnds = 1 inch


Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Do not join rounds mil ess otherwise stated.

Use stitch marker to mark rounds; move marker as work progresses.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Work Rolled Edge with loose tension so that edge has give and is width of Beanie when stretched. Working too tightly will result in edging with no give.


Rnd 1: Ch 60 [68, 76], working in back bar of ch (see illustration), sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, do not join, place stitch marker (see Pattern Notes). (59 [67, 75] sc)

Rnd 2: Sc in each sc around, move marker.

Rnds 3-45 [3-52, 3-52]: Rep rnd 2. At the end of rnd 45 [52, 52] join (see Pattern Notes) in next sc, fasten off.


Cut a 36-inch length of yam, fold in half and weave through sc sts of rnd 45 [52, 52], draw ends tog to close opening, knot tightly to secure, weave in ends and trim.


Rnd 1: With RS of Beanie facing, working in foundation ch, join yam in rem front lp of any foundation ch, loosely sl st in each front lp around, do not join, place stitch marker.

Rnd 2: Working in front lps of previous md, loosely sl st in each st around, move marker.

Rnds 3-6 [3-9, 3-9]: Rep rnd 2. At the end of rnd 6 [9, 9], leaving a 3-inch length, fasten off.

Weave in loose ends.
