HOW TO MAKE A GAUGE SWATCH

Ch 18.

Row 1 Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each ch across—16 hdc.

Row 2 Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), turn; hdc FL in each hdc across.

Rows 3-8 Repeat Row 2.

Resulting gauge swatch should measure approx 4"/10cm square.

If necessary, adjust hook size to obtain correct gauge.

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION

Sc3tog (single crochet 3 stitches together) [Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop] 3 times, yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook.

NOTES

1 Back and Front are worked separately from the shoulders down to the lower edge.

2 Tank is worked entirely in the following color sequence: 6 rows A, 6 rows B, 6 rows C, 6 rows D.

3 To change color, work all stitches of row in old color changing to new color in last stitch as follows: yarn over with new color and complete stitch. Fasten off old color and continue with new color.

Second Shoulder

Using A and larger hook, ch 14 (16, 16, 18).

Neck Edging

Using C and smaller hook, with RS facing, join yarn in center back of neck.

Round 1 (RS) Ch 1, sc evenly around neck edge, working sc3tog at each inside corner, join with sl st in first sc.

Round 2 Ch 1, *sc in each sc around to one st before corner st, sc3tog over next 3 sts; repeat from * 3 times, sc in each sc around; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Armhole Edging

Using C and smaller hook, with RS facing, join yarn to armhole in shoulder seam.

Round 1 (RS) Ch 1, sc evenly around armhole edge, working sc3tog at each inside corner; join with sl st in first sc.

Round 2 Ch 1, *sc in each sc around to one st before corner st, sc3tog over next 3 sts; repeat from * 1 time, sc in each sc around; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Repeat Armhole Edging around other Armhole. Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
