TENSION

Yarn used crochets as chunky to this tension: 14sts and 14 rows to measure 10x10 cm (4x4in) over granite stitch pattern using 6mm hook

Yarn used crochets as chunky to this tension: 16sts and 12 rows to measure 10x10 cm (4x4in) over double crochet in back loop using 6mm hook.

SCARF

Ch29.

Row 1 (RS) Dc in the third ch from the hook, *ch1, skip 1 ch, dc into the next ch; repeat from * to end. [28 sts]

Row 2 Ch1 (counts as dc), *dc into the next ch-sp, ch1, skip 1 dc; repeat from * to the last st, dc in the next ch.

Row 3 Ch1 (counts as dc), *dc into the next ch-sp, ch1, skip 1 dc; repeat from * to the last st, dc in top of beg ch-1.

Repeat Row 3 until the desired scarf length is reached.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Two balls of Riot Chunky will make a generous scarf of approx 190cm at the stated tension.

MITTS (MAKE 2)

The cuff is worked sideways and then the main body of the mitt is worked in rounds into the ends of the rows.

Ch11.

Row 1 Dc into the second ch from the hook and each ch across. [10 dc]

Rows 2-22 Ch1 (does not count as st), dc into the bl of each dc across. [10 dc]

To join the cuff, fold the strip in half and ss together Row 22 to the starting chain.

Do not fasten off.

Turn the work and begin working in the round.

Round 1 Ch1 (does not count as st), dc into the end of each row around, ss to the first dc to join. Place the stitch marker in the last st of the round and move it up after each round. [22 dc]

Round 2 Ch2 (counts as dc, ch1), skip the next dc, *dc into the next dc, ch1, skip the next dc; repeat from * around, ss to the first ch-sp to join. [22 sts]

LEFT MITT ONLY

Rounds 3-11 Ch2 (counts as dc, ch1), skip the next dc, (dc into ch-sp, ch1, skip the next dc) 5 times, (dc, ch1, dc) into the next ch-sp, ch1, *skip the next dc, dc into the ch-sp, ch1; repeat from * around, ss into the first ch-sp to join. [40 sts]

As the start of the round moves by one st each round, always increasing into the sixth stitch lines up the increases on top of each other.

Both Mitts

Fasten off.

Reattach the yarn into any ch-sp of the thumbhole.

Rounds 1-2 Ch2 (counts as dc, ch1), skip the next dc, *dc into the next dc, ch1, skip the next dc; repeat from * around, ss to the first ch-sp to join. [10 sts]

Fasten off and weave in ends.

HAT

The brim of the hat is worked sideways in rows and then the main body of the hat is worked in rounds into the ends of the rows.

Ch6.

Row 1 Dc into the second ch from the hook and each ch across. [5 dc]

Rows 2-60 Ch1 (does not count as st), dc into the bl of each dc across.

To join the brim, fold the strip in half and ss together Row 60 to the starting chain (see step-by-step below).

Do not fasten off.

Turn the work and begin working in the round.
