YOU WILL NEED

Scraps of sport-weight cotton yarn in 7 assorted colors

14"-diameter circular pillow form

Size G-6 (4mm) hook

21 stitches by 11 rows over 4" square using dc

FRONT PANEL

Using color of choice, ch4, join ends with sl st to form ring.

Round 1: ch4 (counts as dc1 and ch1), *dc1 into ring, ch1, rep from * 6 more times, sl st into third of ch4 at beg of round. (8 spaces)

Fasten off yarn and join color of choice into first ch1sp.

Round 2: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc1 into same ch1sp, ch1, *dc2 into next ch1sp, ch1, rep from * to end, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round.

Fasten off yarn and join color of choice into first ch1sp.

Round 3: ch3 (counts as first dc), work [dc1, ch1, dc2] into same ch1sp, *work [dc2, ch1, dc2] into each ch1sp, ch1, rep from * to end, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (8 sets of dc2, ch1, dc2)

Fasten off yarn and join color of choice into first ch1sp.

Round 4: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc1 into same ch1sp, *dc2 into next ch1sp, rep from * to end, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (16 sets of dc2)

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice.

Round 5: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc1 into next st, work dc1 into each st and ch1sp to end, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (48sts)

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice.

Round 6: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc1 into next 2sts, dc2 into next st, *dc1 into next 3sts, dc2 into next st, rep from * to end, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (60sts)

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice.

Round 7: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc1 into next 3sts, dc2 into next st, *dc1 into next 4sts, dc2 into next st, rep from * to end, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (72sts)

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice.

Round 8: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc1 into next 4sts, dc2 into next st, *dc1 into next 5sts, dc2 into next st, rep from * to end, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (84sts)

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice.

Round 9: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc1 into next 5sts, dc2 into next st, *dc1 into next 6sts, dc2 into next st, rep from * to end, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (96sts)

Keeping pattern and increasing as set, continue working until you have 240sts.

To ensure a snug fit, make sure the panel is slightly smaller than pillow form. Fasten off yarn and weave in loose ends.

BACK PANEL

Using color of choice, ch4, join ends with sl st to form ring.

Round 1: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc11 into ring, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (12sts)

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice.

Round 2: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc1 into same place as base of ch3, *dc2 into next st, rep from * to end, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (24sts)

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice.

Round 3: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc2 into first st, *dc1 into next st, dc2 into next st, rep from * to end, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (36sts)

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice.

Round 4: ch3, (counts as first dc), dc1 into next st, dc2 into next st, *dc1 into next 2sts, dc2 into next st, rep from * to end, sl st into ch3 at beg of round. (48sts)

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice.

Round 5: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc1 into next 2sts, dc2 into next st, *dc1 into next 3sts, dc2 into next st, rep from * to end, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (60sts)

Keeping pattern and increasing as set, continue working until back panel matches front panel. Fasten off yarn and weave in loose ends.

Finishing

Sew front and back panels together as follows: place the panels together with RS facing outwards, then sew halfway around the outer edge, working through the top of the stitches. Insert the pillow form, then continue working around the outer edge. Weave in loose ends.
