To make a pot holder

THE DROPS (MAKE 4)

Using color of choice, make a magic loop.

Round 1: ch3 (counts as first st), work [tr1, dc17, tr1, dtr1] into ring, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (21sts)

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice to dtr of previous round.

Round 2: ch4 (counts as dc1 and ch1), dc1 into same st, dc1 into next 10sts, dc2 into next st, dc1 into each st to end, sl st into third of ch4 at beg of round. (23sts)

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice to the second stitch of the dc2 at the rounded edge of drop.

Round 3: ch3 (counts first dc), dc1 into same st, dc1 into next 3sts, dc2 into next 3sts, dc1 into next 3sts, dc2 into next st, work [tr1, ch1, tr1] into next st, dc2 into next st, dc1 into next 3sts, dc2 into next 3sts, dc1 into next 4sts, dc2 into last st, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (33sts)

Fasten off yarn.

TO JOIN THE DROPS

Using picture as guide, lay out the droplets with all the points toward the center.

Join in color of choice to the st next to sl st of previous round.

Round 4: ch3 (counts as first dc), dc1 into same st, *dc2 into next 2sts, dc1 into next 9sts, dc4tog over next 2sts of first drop and matching 2sts from second drop (drops joined), now work on second drop, dc1 into next 10sts, dc2 into next 3sts, dc1 into next 2sts, dc2 into next 3sts, dc1 into next 4sts, dc4tog over next 2sts of second drop and matching 2sts from third drop (drops joined), dc1 into next 5sts, dc2 into next 3sts, dc1 into next 2sts**, dc2 into next st, rep from *, ending last rep at **, sl st into top of ch3 at beg of round. (121 sts)

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice to the st just before sl st of previous round.

Round 5: ch3 (counts as first st), dc1 into same st, *dc1 into next 6sts, dc2 into next 3sts, dc1 into next 5sts, dc3tog over next 3sts, dc1 into next 5sts, dc2 into next 3sts, dc1 into next 7sts, dc2 into next 2sts, dc1 into next 9sts, dc3tog over next 3sts, dc1 into next 10sts, dc2 into next 2sts, rep from *, ending last rep after first of the last two dc2.

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice into the third increase of previous round.

Round 6: ch1 (counts as first sc), sc1 into next 5sts, *sc3tog over next 3sts, sc1 into next 14sts, hdc1 into next 3sts, dc2 into next st, work [dc1, tr1] into next st, ch1, work [tr1, dc1] into next st, dc2 into next st, hdc1 into next 3sts, sc1 into next 5sts, sc3tog over next 3sts, sc1 into next 6sts, hdc1 into next 3sts, dc2 into next st, work [dc1, tr1] into next st, ch1, work [tr1, dc1] into next st, dc2 into next st, hdc1 into next 3sts, sc1 into next 14sts, rep from * twice more, ending last rep after sc7 has been worked.

Fasten off yarn and join in color of choice to the third hdc of previous round.

Round 7: ch1 (counts as first sc), *sc1 into next 12sts, sc3tog over next 3sts, sc1 into next 14sts, hdc1 into next 3sts, dc1 into next 3sts, work [tr2, ch1, tr2] into ch1sp, dc1 into next 3sts, hdc1 into next 3sts, sc1 into next 14sts, hdc1 into next 3sts, dc1 into next 3sts, work [tr2, ch1, tr2] into ch1 sp, dc1 into next 3sts, hdc1 into next 3sts, sc1 into next 2sts, rep from * to end, sl st into ch1 at beg of round. (150sts)

NOTE: on the next round you will join the center sections of Round 3 using the same color used for Round 3.

Round 8: insert hook into ch1sp of the bottom left droplet, join yarn with sl st, sc1 into same ch1sp, *dc4tog working first two dc into 2sts from same droplet and second two into corresponding sts from next droplet, sc1 into same droplet as the last two dc worked, rep from * to end, sl st into sc1 at beg of round.

Fasten off yarn and weave in loose ends.

Finishing

With WS of pot holder facing you, using same yarn as Round 8, sew the remaining center openings closed. Block if required. 

Take time to make sure that your gauge is consistent on each section-otherwise the wings will not be symmetrical.
