NOTES

This cardigan begins with a ribbed collar band. An l-cord edging along one edge of the collar gives it a curved shape and forms the neck edging. Stitches are then picked up along the long edge of the collar and are worked back and forth from the top down for the body of the sweater. The fronts overlap at the neckline, then angle away toward the hemline. The half-length sleeves are worked in the round from the top down to the cuff.

The snapping leather closures used are attached to the garment with a post that is threaded through the fabric and is held in place on the back with plastic washers and a screw. One benefit of using this type of closure is that the placement can be determined and adjusted after the sweater is complete. Determine the place you want to attach the latch and carefully poke a knitting needle through the fabric from back to front, being careful not to split a strand of yarn. You can then use the needle as a guide while pushing the post through. The washer included with the latch helps to keep the post in place. However, don't push the washer too tight against the fabric or it will make the knitting appear distorted.

The finished bust circumference may be altered slightly by moving the closures and arranging the front overlap differently.
