Row 2 and every alt row: P13, K2, P13.

Row 3: K3tog, K7, yo, K1, yo, K2, P2, K2, yo, K1, yo, K7, s2kpo.

Row 5: K3tog, K6, yo, K1, yo, K3, P2, K3, yo, K1, yo, K6, s2kpo.

Using 4mm needles, cast on 80 (92:102:114:124:136) sts.

Purl 4 rows, inc 1 st at each end of last row. 82 (94:104:116:126:138) sts. **

Change to st st with panels as folls:

Row 1 (RS): K2 (5:8:12:14:18), *yo, skpo, P1, work 28 sts from row 1 of panel, P1, K2tog, yo*, K10 (16:20:24:30:34), work from * to *, K2 (5:8:12:14:18).

Row 2 and every alt row: P5 (8:11:15:17:21), work row 2 of panel, P16 (22:26:30:36:40), work row 2 of panel, P5 (8:11:15:17:21).

Rows 3 to 16: Rep rows 1 and 2, 7 times, working through rows 3 to 16 of panel.

These 16 rows set the patt.

Work 54 more rows in patt, thus ending after row 6 of panel.

*** SHAPE SLEEVES

Working extra sts in st st, inc 1 st at each end of next row, then on every foll 4th row until there are 90 (102:112:124:134:146) sts, then on every foll alt row until there are 98 (110:120:132:142:154) sts.

Finally inc 1 st at each end of every row until there are 108 (120:130:142:152:164) sts.

Now cast on 7 sts at beg of next 2 rows.

Row 2 of panel has just been worked.

Work 14 (30:30:30:46:46) more rows in patt thus ending after row 16 of panel.

7 (8:8:8:9:9) repeats in all of panel have now been worked.

Next row (RS): K22 (25:28:32:34:38), *yo, skpo, P1, K13, P2, K13, P1, K2tog, yo*, K10 (16:20:24:30:34), work from * to *, K22 (25:28:32:34:38).

Next row: P38 (41:44:48:50:54), K2, P42 (48:52:56:62:66), K2, P to end.

These 2 rows set the patt for remainder of front.

Work a further 18 (8:12:18:2:8) rows in patt, thus ending after a WS row.

SHAPE NECK

Next row: Work across 47 (52:56:61:65:70) sts, turn.

Cont on this group of sts for left half of neck.

Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 5 rows.

42 (47:51:56:60:65) sts.

SHAPE SHOULDER

Cast off loosely 4 (5:5:6:5:5) sts at beg of next row and the 4 (4:5:5:6:6) foll alt rows, then 5 (5:4:4:5:6) sts at beg of the 3 (3:4:4:4:4) foll alt rows.

Work 1 row.

Cast off rem 7 (7:5:4:5:6) sts.

With RS facing slip next 28 (30:32:34:36:38) sts (centre sts) on a stitch holder and leave.

Neatly rejoin yarn to rem 47 (52:56:61:65:70) sts and work to end of row.

Complete as left half but working 1 row straight before shaping shoulder.

BACK

Work as Front to **.

Change to patt as folls:

Row 1 (RS): K2 (5:8:12:14:18), *yo, skpo, P1, K13, P2, K13, P1, K2tog, yo*, K10 (16:20:24:30:34), work from * to *, K2 (5:8:12:14:18).

Row 2: P18 (21:24:28:30:34), K2, P42 (48:52:56:62:66), K2, P to end.

These 2 rows set the patt.

Work 68 more rows in patt.

Work as Front from *** to ***.

Omitting neck shaping, cont straight in patt until work measures same as Front to shoulder shaping, ending after a WS row.

SHAPE SHOULDERS

Cast off loosely 4 (5:5:6:5:5) sts at beg of next 10 (10:12:12:14:14) rows, then 5 (5:4:4:5:6) sts at beg of next 6 (6:8:8:8:8) rows. Finally cast off 7 (7:5:4:5:6) sts at beg of next 2 rows.

Slip next 38 (40:42:44:46:48) sts onto a stitch holder.

NECKBAND

Join left shoulder.

Using 3.25mm needles and RS facing, K across back neck sts, pick up and knit 14 (14:16:16:18:18) sts evenly down left front neck, K across sts at centre front neck, finally pick up and K14 (14:16:16:18:18) sts evenly up right front neck.

94 (98:106:110:118:122) sts

Knit 4 rows.

Cast off evenly.

SLEEVES

Join right shoulder and neckband.

Using 3.25mm needles, RS facing, pick up and K62 (66:72:78:80:86) sts evenly along sleeve edge.

Change to 4mm needles.

Work 5 rows in K1, P1 rib.

Cont in rib, dec 1 st at each end of next row, then on every foll 4th row until 50 (54:60: 66:68:74) sts rem.

Change to 3.25mm needles.

Cont in rib until Sleeve measures 13cm or desired length.

Cast off evenly in rib.

MAKING UP

Work may be lightly pressed as follows: With WS facing, block work to size and shape by pinning out round edges. Lay a slightly damp cloth over work and with iron set on medium, and no steam, lightly press work without putting full weight of the iron on the work.

Alternatively, press work with iron on low steam and medium heat and again press without putting the full weight of the iron on the work.

Join side and sleeve seams.
