PATTERN NOTES

RAGLAN INCREASES

Increases for Front are made after mrk(4) and before mrk(5).

Increases for Back are made after mrk(8) and before mrk(1).

Increases for Sleeves are made after mrk(2) and mrk(6), and before mrk(3) and mrk(7).

2 sts remain between raglan pieces at all times throughout raglan shaping. These sts will eventually be taken into the sleeves. Work increases with a yarnover, then work into the back of this st on the following row/round to avoid holes.

SWEATER

NECK

Using 3mm circular needles and yarn A, cast on 86 (90:94:100:104:108) sts.

Join to work in the round, taking care not to twist sts. Pm for beg of round.

Knit 1 round.

Change to yarn B.

Cont in st st using yarn B until work meas 6cm.

Change to 4mm needles and yarn A.

Work 1 round in stocking st.

SHORT ROWS TO ELEVATE BACK NECK

Note: round starts at centre back. Slip beg of round mrk as you come to it when working short rows. Read ahead: short rows are worked AT THE SAME TIME as Raglan shaping.

Short row 1 (RS): K8, w&t.

Short row 2 (WS): P8, slip beg of round mrk, P8, w&t.

Now cont as folls, AT THE SAME TIME increasing 1 st (see note) before mrk(1) and mrk(8), and after mrk(2) and mrk(7) on every RS row.

4 sts inc'd in every increase row.

Short row 3 (RS): K to 8 sts past the gap, slipping mrks as you come to them and working last wrap with stitch.

Short row 4 (WS): P to 8 sts past the gap, slipping mrks as you come to them and working last wrap with stitch.

Working 8 (8:8:10:10:10) new sts into pattern, cont to work Chart 1 to round 62, then continue piece with yarn B only, AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 4cm from Sleeve cast-off, dec 1 st on each side of markers in the side as folls:

Dec round: K2tog, K to 2 sts before mrk, skpo; rep from * once more. 4 sts dec'd.

Repeat Dec round every 14 (30:10:14:10:14) cm, 2 (1:3:2:3:2) more times.

Cont in yarn B without shaping until piece measures 39 (40:41:41:41:41) cm from Sleeve cast-off.

Next round: Knit, dec 0 (2:0:2:0:2) sts evenly.

Next round: Work Chart 3 to end of round. Cont to work through rounds 2-7 of Chart 3.

Cut yarn D.

Cont in yarn B only, work as folls:

Change to 3mm circular needles.

Next round: (K2, P2) to end of round.

Last round sets K2, P2 rib. Cont in rib as set until rib measures 4cm.

Knit 1 round.

Cast off.

SLEEVES

(both alike)

Slip the 63 (65:69:71:77:81) sts from the stitch holder back on 4mm DPNs.

With RS facing, cast on 8 (8:8:10:10:10) new sts under sleeve and insert a marker in the middle of the new sts. Join to work in the round.

Continue to work Chart 1 as set over all sts, bringing the 8 (8:8:10:10:10) new sts and sts previously worked in Chart 2 into pattern, until round 36 of Chart 1 has been worked, then cont from row 51 (skipping rows 37-50) AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 4cm from armhole, dec 1 st on each side of marker.

Repeat dec every 5 1/2 (5 1/2:4 1/2:4:3:2 1/2) cm, 7 (7:8:9:11:12) more times.

55 (57:59:61:63:65) sts.

Cont without shaping until Sleeve measures 47 (47:46:45:44:42) cm or desired length, working in yarn B only when Chart 2 is complete.

Next round: Knit, dec 1 (3:5:1:3:5) sts evenly. 54 (54:54:60:60:60) sts.

Begin working Chart 3, repeating the 6-st pattern 9 (9:9:10:10:10) times around.

When all 7 rows of Chart 3 have been worked, cut yarn D and cont in yarn B only. Knit 1 round.

Change to 3mm needles.

Next round: (K1, P2) to end of round.

Rep last round until Sleeve meas 54 (53:53:52:51:49) cm.

MAKING UP

Sew the openings under the sleeves.

Fold collar in half to WS and sew in place. Weave in ends and gently block to measurements, following any yarn care instructions on the ball band.
